Andre Alto, from Kings Norton Girls School (OCS Group Ltd) is one of the three finalists for LACA’s Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge. The competition, which is sponsored by SchoolGrid, is taking place at the LACA Main Event on the 8th July 2025.
In the final, competitors are required to prepare cook and present four portions of a grab & go/breaktime savoury snack with a total cost per head of 80p. Andre will create a longganisa rice burger
Andre has been a school chef for 15 years with more than 20 years culinary experience. In 2024 he was presented with OCS’s ‘Star of the Year’ Award which recognised his leadership, dedication, and exceptional performance. In 2025, Andre was nominated in the education category for both the Public Sector Catering Awards and the Contract Catering Awards.
First place will receive £500, plus a £500 set of Wüsthof professional chef’s knives donated by SchoolGrid. The overall winner will demo their winning dish at the LACA LIVE demo on Wednesday 9th July.
