Running from between 20th September to 6th October 2024, Love British Food Fortnight is once again taking the UK by storm. Now in its 23rd year, the fortnight aims to ‘encourage people to seek out British food when they are shopping or eating out and in doing so to discover the delights of the diverse and delicious food produced in Great Britain.’
We understand a phenomenal 2800 schools are running a British Food Fortnight Menu, and British Food Fortnight 2024 is set to be the biggest and most popular yet, with communities and organisations across the country making plans to take part. Hundreds of activities are taking place in communities across the country during the event this Autumn.
Fun activities, foodie lessons and special menus are taking place in hundreds of schools. Teachers are organising special lessons to teach the young about the food grown on their doorstep. School catering managers are running British Food Fortnight menus. And LACA – the School Food People – is supporting at a national level.
Chefs and caterers across the UK are invited to enter the Great British Pie Challenge, creating a pie using British ingredients and adding to their menus during the fortnight. Chef and restaurateur Phil Howard is leading the judging panel and looking for entries to include a story behind the pie or ingredients used, eg. History, heritage or provenance. https://www.lovebritishfood.co.uk/how-to-take-part
